FAQ - Australian Swimming Clubs

How do I find a swimming club in my area?
Each of the swimming club websites on Australian Swimming Clubs website belong to State Swimming Associations. You can contact a swimming club directly by selecting a State at the top of this page and identifying a club in your local region.
Alternatively, you can contact your State Swimming Association directly and ask for advice on clubs that are local to you.

How do I join a swimming club?

Each Club will have a membership form that they will give to or send to you. You need to complete the form and make the annual membership payment to your club. This payment will include fees payable to your State Swimming Association and Swimming Australia.

How do I choose a swimming club?
This is one of the most vital considerations when you are looking to join a swimming club. Most coaches and clubs will be more than happy for you to come down to the pool and have a look around, meet some other families with children of a similar ability to yours and explain a bit more about the Club and how it operates. There are many considerations including who the coaches are, the location of the training pool, the distance from your home to the pool, the training times and when club competitions are held.

Can parents get involved?
Yes, by all means. There are many volunteer roles necessary to successfully run a swimming club. Many parents are required to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Club’s committees and social and fundraising activities. Most clubs also conduct their own swim meets and these create opportunities for parents of all swimmers to get involved in timekeeping and marshalling at the meets.

Are there swimming clubs for more mature swimmers in Australia?
