2013 World Championship Swimming Dates

The organizers of the 2013 World Championships, to be held in Barcelona, have posted the competition dates for each discipline at the event.

They are:

-Swimming–July 28-August 4

-Open Water–July 20, 21, 24, 26 & 27

-Diving–July 20-28

-Synchro–July 20-27

-Water Polo–July 21-August 3 (in July: women on odd days, men on even days; switches in August)

Venues for 2013 are:

-Palau Sant Jordi: Swimming, Synchro

-Bernat Picornell pool: Water Polo

-Montjuic Municipal pool: Diving

-Moll de la Fusta: Open Water

Entry Details for 2012 World Short Course Championships

FINA has updated the posted information on the 11th Short Course World Championships which are listed for December 12-16, 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Included in what is now posted is the entry timeframe for the event;

Deadlines related to entries are:
-provisional entries: July 31, 2012
-preliminary entries: October 15, 2012
-final entry form: November 15, 2012
-final entries: December 2, 2012

Entries will be processed electronically, apparently online; National Federations without internet access can enter via fax.

World Swimming Championships Medal Tally

The USA finished atop both the Swimming point and medal standings at the 14th World Championships which concluded its two-week run in Shanghai on Sunday (July 16-31). In total, 20 countries won medals in the 40 Swimming events, with 13 different countries winning an event; 51 scored points in Swimming.

Italian Swim Team Selected for World Championships

The Italian Swimming Federation, Federazione Italiana Nuoto (FIN), today has announced a 28-swimmer team for the 2011 World Championships, in Shanghai, China.

Team members are:

The Austria Swimming Federation, Osterreichischer Schwimmverband (OSV), has announced a 12-swimmer team for the 2011 World Championships, next month in Shanghai, China.
